Reducing our climate footprint

Our aim is to help reduce the burdens which humanity is placing on the natural world, and we have drawn up a climate road map in close consultation with infrastructure owners, customers and partners. This provides a tool for defining the areas and jobs we will work with in order to meet the UN sustainable development goal of halting climate change by 2030.

We accept the assessments of the UN intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC) about the challenges facing the world in this area. Our job is therefore to ensure that future supplies of Norwegian gas cause as little damage to the environment as possible and have the lowest possible climate footprint.

That accords with UN sustainable development goals 7, 9 and 13 on affordable and clean energy, industry, innovation and infrastructure and on climate action respectively.

From now until 2030, our climate roadmap will be a useful and strategic tool for doing this work in the best possible way. The map will identify and define areas and assignments related to our operations which we intend to work on in order to meet the UN’s climate action goal.

In close collaboration with our infrastructure owners, customers, partners and their decision-makers, we will reduce our climate footprint by operating, developing and constructing plants and the pipeline network for gas transport in ways that minimise their environmental impact.
